To graduate from Princeton University, students must successfully complete a minimum of 31 courses and two years of departmental independent work in eight terms of study. If a student graduates with a degree in the humanities, social sciences, or engineering, the total number of credits will be 31, plus one independent study class. Students with a degree in the sciences, arts and humanities will need to take 31 credits as well. (For all other degree programs, it is 32 credits. )
How does Princeton University calculate GPA?
Princeton University calculates GPA by taking the total number of grade points earned and dividing it by the total number of credit hours attempted. So, if a student receives a B in an A-level course with 20 credit hours and gets a B in an A-level course with 30 credit hours, the student would receive a 3. 0 GPA. What if I am not taking the full term?
If you are on a quarter system, you will need to complete at least 12 credit hours for each term. If you are on a trimester system, you will need to complete at least 9 credit hours for each term. In addition, if you have attended a summer session at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), you will need to add 5 credit hours to the above figures.
